Lipo-Cryo, cryo lipolysis
Fat decomposition by low temperatures
Cryolipo, lipo-Cryo, lipocryolysis, Coolsculpting, Cryolipolysis - all of these terms serve to name an advance procedure that reduces local fat stores by exposure to low temperatures.
The concept of this form of fat reduction has been clinically studied by Dr. Dieter Manstein and Dr. Rox Anderson at the Massachusetts General Hospital. As a result thereof, Zeltiq Company designed the very first cryolipolysis unit ever, and launched it as Coolsculpting.
By now, various devices of the same operating principle have been introduced to the market. We at Bodyclinic deploy "Lipocryo” made by Clinipro. What is important with this method in order to avoid injury caused by low temperatures is to sufficiently cool down the fat layer; however, not the skin’s surface. By applying accurate internal measuring control, "Lipocryo” ensures this. (Please don’t experiment on yourself applying any cooling elements deep-frozen in the ice compartment – you will only be chilblained!).
Depending on the respective fat layer thickness, it takes 1 to 3 treatments within a term of 6 weeks in order to achieve 25 to 45% reduction in fat pad thickness. The fat is decomposed by an inflammation process in the fat tissue, extending over several weeks. Consequentially, results will frequently not show before 6 – 8 weeks, sometimes not even before 3 months have passed by.
